@michelle: thanks! and no, i don't think you stupid, i actually didn't explain the location very well. the picture shows the city of oporto, second largest city of portugal, situated on the west coast of europe. the river is the douro river, which comes from spain and enters the atlantic ocean right in oporto (at the horizon of the photo). the rhine river comes from the alps, crosses germany from south to north and enters the northern european sea. it's two totally different waters.
